Duty belt accessory placement follows a set of principles derived from decades of law enforcement experience. Primary firearm on the dominant side typically between 3 o'clock and 4 o'clock for right-handed officers. Magazine pouches on the non-dominant side 9 o'clock to 10 o'clock for right-handed officers. Medical equipment at the front accessible with either hand. Radio and flashlight on the non-dominant side upper. Handcuffs at the rear non-dominant side for easy reach during subject control.
