Military Ponchos

The most versatile piece of wet-weather equipment ever issued to military personnel. A military poncho provides waterproof coverage from neck to knee, packs down to the size of a water bottle, and functions as a ground cover, emergency shelter, and improvised litter in addition to rain protection. Snap closures on the sides allow conversion from a standalone poncho to a poncho liner sleeping system. Available in woodland camo, ACU digital, olive drab, and black.

Tactical Rain Jackets

Waterproof or water-resistant shell jackets with tactical features, sufficient length to cover the top of BDU pants, an adjustable hood for helmet compatibility, and a cut that accommodates plate carrier wear underneath. Tactical rain jackets use DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coated outer shells that shed light to moderate rain and provide wind protection. For sustained heavy rain, a waterproof membrane construction provides more reliable protection than DWR alone.

Rain Pants & Wet Weather Bottoms

Waterproof or water-resistant over-trousers for lower body protection during field operations in sustained precipitation. Rain pants worn over BDU pants extend the effective operating window in wet conditions. Significantly wet BDU pants add weight, cause chafing, and create hypothermia risk in cold temperatures. Side-zip leg openings allow rain pants to be put on and removed over boots without ungearing.

Poncho Liners (Woobie)

The poncho liner universally known as the Woobie among military personnel is technically a quilt insert, but functions as one of the most versatile pieces of field equipment ever issued. Lightweight, compressible, and warmer-than-expected for its weight, the Woobie attaches to a military poncho to create a sleeping bag system or serves as a standalone field blanket, insulating layer, or ground pad. Waterproof vs Water Resistant - What Does the Difference Mean in the Field

Water-resistant gear repels light rain and surface moisture through a DWR coating effective for brief exposures and light precipitation. When the DWR coating saturates, the fabric wets through. Waterproof gear uses a sealed membrane or fully taped seams that prevent water penetration under sustained exposure and pressure. For short-duration wet weather encounters, water-resistant is sufficient. For field operations in sustained heavy rain, waterproof construction is necessary. Most military poncho materials are waterproof; most tactical shell jackets are water-resistant at best.
