Military jackets are purpose-built outerwear engineered for field operations, not fashion. The M65 field jacket has protected American service members since 1965. The N-3B parka has kept Arctic operators warm in temperatures that would incapacitate standard civilian winter gear. The MA-1 flight jacket became the standard of aviation units worldwide. Every jacket in this collection carries that heritage, designed for the conditions that matter, not the conditions you hope for.

Military Jacket Types at PX Supply

M65 Field Jackets

The defining military jacket of the modern era. The M65 uses a wind-resistant cotton/nylon poplin shell with a removable zip-out liner that adapts from cool weather through sub-freezing conditions. Four front pockets, a hidden hood stored in the collar, and reinforced shoulders for carrying field equipment. The M65 remains in production and active use more than 60 years after its introduction because nothing has replaced its combination of versatility, durability, and practical design. Available in woodland camo, ACU digital, olive drab, black, and coyote brown.

N-3B Arctic Parkas

Built for extreme cold. The N-3B parka uses a heavy poly-fill insulated outer shell with a fur-trimmed hood designed to protect the face from wind-driven snow and temperatures well below zero. Originally designed for Air Force personnel stationed in Arctic environments, the N-3B is the coldest-weather military jacket in regular production. If you operate in temperatures below 20°F for extended periods, this is the jacket the military designed for that exact condition.

MA-1 Flight Jackets

The bomber jacket that became a cultural icon. The MA-1 uses a nylon outer shell with a reversible orange lining, the orange side for emergency visibility, the green side for low-profile everyday wear. Originally designed for military pilots who needed a jacket that fit inside cockpits without bulk, the MA-1's clean lines and minimal design have made it the most widely copied military jacket in history. Ours come with authentic patch placement options for unit and branch insignia.

M-51 Field Parkas

The predecessor to the M65 was a longer, heavier field coat with a zip-out wool liner for extreme-cold-weather operations. The M-51's greater length protects the thighs and provides more coverage than the hip-length M65. Popular with collectors and anyone who needs maximum field coverage in cold, wet environments.

How to Choose the Right Military Jacket

Match your jacket to your operating temperature and mission type. The M65, with its liner, handles temperatures from approximately 0°F to 50°F across its full range. It is the most versatile single jacket on the list. The N-3B is designed for sustained sub-zero conditions where the M65 liner is insufficient. The MA-1 works best in mild to cool conditions from approximately 30°F to 60°F. The M-51 bridges the gap between the M65 and N-3B for cold but not extreme conditions.

For law enforcement and security professionals who need a professional-looking outerwear option, a concealed carry jacket with built-in holster access may be a better fit than a standard field jacket. For active field duty that involves plate carrier wear, choose a jacket cut wide enough to accommodate your carrier underneath.

Complete your cold-weather kit with tactical shirts and base layers, BDU pants for uniform coordination, and tactical boots for cold-weather operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

The N-3B Arctic parka is the warmest military jacket in our collection, designed for sustained extreme cold weather operations at temperatures well below zero. For most users in temperate winter conditions, the M65 field jacket with its zip-out liner provides sufficient warmth down to approximately 0°F with appropriate base layering underneath.

The M65 field jacket with its zip-out liner is rated for temperatures down to approximately 0°F with proper base layering. Without the liner, it functions as a wind and light rain-resistant shell jacket down to approximately 40°F. The M65 is designed as a layering system; add or remove the liner based on conditions.

Yes. Military jackets, particularly the M65 and MA-1, have been civilian fashion staples for decades. The clean lines, durable construction, and practical pocket layout work as well in daily life as in the field. Solid color options in olive drab, black, and coyote are versatile enough for everyday wear in most environments.

The M65 is a hip-length jacket with four front pockets and a button-in hood. The M-51 is a longer coat that extends to mid-thigh, providing more coverage in cold and wet conditions. The M-51 uses a zip-out wool liner rather than the M65's synthetic fill liner. The M65 is more practical for active movement, while the M-51 provides more warmth and coverage during static operations.

Our military jacket collection includes M81 woodland camo, ACU digital, MultiCam, olive drab, black, coyote brown, and navy. The M65 field jacket is available in the widest pattern selection. MA-1 flight jackets are typically available in sage green and black, with the reversible orange lining standard across all variants.
