For range training, a Level I or Level II retention belt holster on your dominant side provides the fastest, most consistent draw for skills development. Drop leg holsters are appropriate when wearing a plate carrier that blocks belt access. Shoulder holsters work well for seated shooting positions and vehicle drills.

 Minimum eye protection is ANSI Z87.1-rated safety glasses or shooting glasses; standard sunglasses do not meet the impact resistance required for range use. Minimum ear protection is disposable foam earplugs (NRR 25+) for outdoor ranges, and electronic earmuffs for indoor ranges where communication during drills is important.

A weapon sling is essential if your training involves transitions between rifle and pistol. The sling keeps the rifle controlled during the transition rather than setting it down. For static position shooting, where you do not leave the firing line, a sling is optional but develops the same habits you would need in a real deployment or duty scenario.
