Water resistance varies by jacket type. M65 field jackets use a water-resistant treated shell that handles light rain and wind. Softshell tactical jackets typically offer better water resistance with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating. For full waterproofing, a dedicated rain layer over a tactical jacket is more effective than any single tactical jacket.
